Environmental Testing
Thermocycling, Xenon and QUV tests, Outdoor Weathering, Climate Chamber, Autoclave, High Temperature Storage
AAC provides testing services for accelerated weathering and outdoor exposure of coatings and components for solar and wind energy.
AAC is equipped with the following devices for weathering:
- Climate chamber for
- thermal cycling down to -40°C and
- Damp heat tests at 85°C / 85% humidity
- Q-Lab QUV SE accelerated weathering tester to simulate sunlight, rain and dew with a UVA-340 light source [1].
- Q-Lab Q-Sun Xe-3 HS xenon test chamber to simulate the damage caused by full spectrum sunlight and rain (optional) with a daylight F filter [2].
- Autoclave for conduction of pressure cooker test (PCT 121°C in saturated vapour for 83h), a fast method for material screening.
Tests are accompanied by surface and material characterisation:
- Surface energy, contact angle, roll-off angle
- Adhesion to substrate (cross-cut)
- Color change
- Mechanical testing: tensile strength, e modulus, shear force.
- Optical and electron microscopy including embedded cross-cuts
